Arranmore Utd had the aid of the strong wind in the first half of their game on Saturday past but could not find a way past a strong and resolute Keadue backline and when they did Ben Boyle in the Keadue goals was in good form. Conor Proctor had a great effort saved by Boyle and Chris knocked in the rebound but was harshly adjudged offside. As often happens Arranmore played much better against the strong wind and Turski was denied on two occasions by good defending.
The Arranmore backline were playing superb and John Greene in goals pulled off a couple of great saves, however as the boys tired the visitors got on top and began to cause more problems. Just when it seemed the boys did enough to secure a draw Keadue took the lead when they scored following a corner on 83 minutes.
Arranmore went for the equalizer but were caught on the break in the 90th minute and Keadue made it 2. Very harsh on this young Arranmore team who incidentally fielded three players who played with Keadue Rovers 16s only a couple months ago. Indeed many of the Arranmore team came through the ranks with Keadue under Ben Boyle which made for great respect between the players and Managers.
Next up in this round of cup games sees Arran away to Glenea with hopefully a stronger team. Great team effort from the lads with Conor Proctor outstanding in his new role in the middle of the park. Special word of thanks to John Gaughan of Northern Tunnelling who presented Hugh and Jerry a new set of Rigs to the club.
Team: John Greene, Phil Boyle, Ruan Reynolds, Danny Winnie, Jason O'Donnell, Martin Proctor, Michael McHugh, Conor Proctor, Chris McGlanaghey, Sean Conlon, Prezmak Turski.
