Arranmore Utd out in the Quarter Finals

Arranmore Utd played Glenea today at an Screaban as Rannagh Park was unplayable. On a blustery day when the wind played havoc with both sides as both struggled to retain possession early on. The 1st half was an even affair with both defences and midfields on top as both keepers had very little to do. Glenea started the better of the 2nd half and went close with a 1 on 1 but found the effort saved. Minutes later Glenea got the breakthrough following a great cross from the right and Dean Gallagher found the net curling his shot around the advancing Rua. In a game that looked like who scored 1st would go through Glenea made sure that was the case as they defended excellently for the remainder with Ciaran Mor pulling of a brilliant save with 10 minutes to go and Wan Dan stabbed the rebound goalbound, but a last gasp clearance maintained Glenea's lead. Arranmore pushed for the remainder but couldn't find a goal. That result see's Glenea advance to the semi finals of the Downtown Cup with Arranmore out in the quarters.

Next up is two local derbies as Arranmore Utd welcome Strand FC to the Rannagh next week, followed by Keadue Rovers the following weekend.

Team performance from both sides!

Team: Rua, Wan Dan, Chim, Gerard Diver, Declan, Marty Proctor, Daniel Rocky, Benny, Mark Ward, Doalty Boyle and Chris McGlanaghy. Subs: Gav, Conor and Przemek all used. Jason and John unused.
